SEDITION were one of the most intense bands that never made it.Their singer Turner was a true madman that practiced what he preached by collecting massive amounts of rotten Texas roadkill and designing wicked "Chainsaw Massacre" style sculptures,check out the song "Roadkill".Some of these works of art were used for Ministry's live show and Cypress Hill's "How I can just kill a man" video.Musically Sedition were very much in the same style as their mentors Rigor Mortis playing ultra fast sun bleached hornet swarm metal.The guitarist Pete was taught by Rigor Mortis axeman Mike Sciacca and even took his place when Mike joined Ministry,later he joined GWAR.The band did a one off show in Oklahoma City in 1990 and from what I remember it was badass complete with bones and Turner's brutal self mutilation with a very rusty scrap of iron,it should also be noted that this show was the first time I ever met OKC's infamous Ray-Ray "Drink All Day" Duvall!Turner found his own fame after Sedition by fronting the great punk rock band Ethyl Merman/Pumpin'Ethyl and beating on Kurt Cobain at Tree's club in Dallas.a href="http://s173.photobucket.com/albums/w68/weavnspider/?action=view¤t=sed.jpg" target="_blank"> Tracks:

I've come to the point that I have searched nearly every blog on the web and heard all the music (good and bad) out there,nothing you post will blow me away or surprise,interest or shock me!Unless you come to my house with the only known video footage of mega obscure oklahoma power metal pioneers POWERLORD!Greg Scott of FORTE had this footage from a Powerlord/Forte show filmed in mid 1987,this may have been one of Powerlord's final shows due to the wave of thrash metal that was catching on.Powerlord's drummer was in Dark Angel for a few months fyi.

In 1993 Flipper had just put out an LP on Def American and jumped on a tour with Gwar.The Oklahoma City show was cancelled(rumor was the City did not want GWAR to perform)but Flipper agreed to play an low key party at one the local punk houses.The place was packed due to many of the locals being huge Flipper fans.Members of GWAR were in attendence,Oderus sang the classic song "Shed no Tears"to the sweaty wasted punx.This footage was shot by James Hawley aka Jack Acid,a local industrial musician/filmographer who aired it on a short livedcable access show.Somehow the master tape was lost or stolen and long been sought out by those who were there.My good friend Blake came into possesion of the only known copy and gave it to me about 10 years ago for safekeeping.The VHS tape was in horrible condition,sound was barely auidible and the picture dark.I figured it was time to preserve the show before the tape degraded more and with some pretty basic video editing program I was able to restore the footage into something watchable,raised the audio level and brightened up the picture.I made this for those who were at the show because it was highly regarded as one the most fun shows ever to happen in lame ass OKC.I'll be sending copies to Flipper who still rule!

I'm back!Here's a rare videotape I ripped today in order to kinda preserve it.It's got the earliest footage of Corrosion Of Conformity I have ever seen,just some kids playing hardcore,long before they even started doing crossover. I picked this up at a freaky/weird video store in Dallas,TX that was shutting it's doors in the 1990's.There is very little info on the internet about this compilation,I just know it was put out by the JFA/Placebo Products crew in 1984 or 85.I'll post a photo of the clamshell video cover soon. Hope you fuckers like this as I'll be posting the uber-rare "Live A Target" video compilation next.

I swiped this link from the excellent 80's thrash metal demo preservation site http://lockjaw-yappy.blogspot.com/ This LP is the probobaly the first real "Metal" product to come out of Oklahoma,initally it most likley recived little notice due to the massive amount of homegrown thrash/speed and power metal coming out of every corner of the USA at the time.24 years after it's release it has been reissued on CD by some small retro-metal labels and championed by the guitarist of Merciless Death(he sports a Powerlord logo on his axe).During the mid 90's my old band Subsanity practiced at singer Dane Cook's(not to be confused with the comedian)house,lots of wild parties,booze and dope was going on all the time.We would always try to get Dane to sing some old stuff for us but he was kinda shy and it was hard to pry much info on the bands history,shows from him.Cool guy,I havent seen him in years.The drummer-Bob Gourley tried out for Slayer in thier earliest stages and may or may not have been in the band for two weeks,he had some badass rehearsal tapes(doing songs like"Ice Titan") to back up his story!He was also in Dark Angel for a brief amount of time,I wanted him to try some stuff with Subsanity but like all old school metal dudes from that era just did'nt dig the grindcore too much.I'm sure Powerlord played with Pantera back in their "Metal Magic" days.....enjoy this forgotten metal relic..If anybody has more info,post some comments... http://www.mediafire.com/?zv5ngwlw2te

Wow!I had no idea that legendary sludge punk band Flipper put out a new album.I first heard Flipper on the "Let Them Eat Jellybeans"comp LP and the very rare "Live at Target"video compilation.In the early 1990's Flipper played a truly amazing house party in NW OKC,those who attended were treated to the pinnacle moment ever to happen to punk rockers in Oklahoma.Members of Gwar were hanging out too, Oderous did a wild version of "ha ha ha".When Flipper finished a bucket was passed around for donations,it was quickly filled with money,weed and LSD,the Flipperr guys took out $40 and all the drugs and dumped a couple hundred bucks on the crowd!!!Punk rock!I followed Flipper on tour the next year attending shows in Tulsa,Norman,Lawton and Dallas,it was a good time from what I remember.....http://rapidshare.com/files/293165047/Flipper_-_Love__2009_.rar

I finally got to see Overkill during the summer at the mostly cock-rock oriented "Rocklahoma"festival in Noetheast Oklahoma.This year the promoters added an extra day devoted to the heavier side of 80's metal,fans were treated to sets by Leatherwolf, Aska,Hallows Eve,Metal Church(who played thier last show ever),Krank,Anvil,Saxon and a horrible set by the Dan Nelson fronted Anthrax.Overkill just blasted the audience(several thousand strong)in 110 degree Oklahoma heat,I do not know how the drummer did'nt die from heat stroke. Depraved Dave turned me onto this "semi-parody" band a few years ago,musicaly it's tight and over the top metal and funny as shit songs.heres a little more info on Massacration-Their biography is somewhat similar to Spinal Tap's. Massacration started as a fake parody "true heavy metal" band on the comedy TV show "Hermes & Renato" on Brazilian MTV, with fake biography, fake long hair, fake live recordings, dumb interviews and whatnot. Since then, they've done a bunch of real concerts (including a tour with Sepultura, with Igor Cavalera as session drummer), and released an album produced by "Rick Rubinho", a.k.a. Ratos de PorÃ£o's JoÃ£o Gordo.

My band was supposed to play a show with Ravage last night but the Ravage guys were having a real shitty tour=vehicle problems galore so they wisely opted not to play in OKC.I was actually getting kinda stoked to see some old style Thrash Metal with no death/grind/whatever influence but it never happened,so on my way home I rocked out to this album. Wrathchild America were total "Thrash lite"and got signed to a major a the very end of the whole Thrash Metal phenomena,you can almost see the band getting butthurt to the rumbling sound of the grunge and death/grind scenes eating their pathetic souls!I think Pantera did some touring with these guys before they hit it big,and I caught them playing a show with oklahoma's own Oliver Magnum. I was talking with an old high school buddy while sampling some of Lebanon's finest export,I asked him what albums does he still own from the early 1990's,he replied SKREW "Burning In Water,Drowning In Flame".I completely forgot all about this cult classic slab of grating industrial/metal.SKREW evolved out of the thrash/crossover band ANGKOR WAT(I was a big fan of this band),signed to Metal Blade Records and released "Burning In Water,Drowning In Flame" in 1992.This record was a pretty major underground hit when it came out,but SKREW flubbed on touring extensively and there was some line up changes and switching of styles on later albums. Well this has been my favorite film since iv'e seen it. And i guess I use the term film because this introduced me to a bit of deeper cinema and gave me a taste for the avant garde from the get go. REPULSION is a true classic film and there's no denying it.Roman Poilanski's first English languige flik and bankrolled by western investors. Polanski grew up during WW2 in Poland in the Nazi razed ghettoes. He was seperated from his parents for two years and lived from friend's charity and on the streets at a very young age in WW2 Poland.
After "the big war" he reunited with his father, went to film school in Poland and early on started to produce short surreal film. Eventually, he got noticed by one of his shorts, TWO MEN IN A WARDROBE...lead to financing and movies like the fine KNIFE IN WATER (somewhat Hitchcock deranged) and CUL-DE-SAC (which i read was pretty good and still have not been able to find...many years later...shouldve bought that bootleg VHS in the mail in 96!).
So, I'll tell ya' to me this is the end all be all.
I know there's plenty of fine and really bizarre movies out there but this is the first to get my goat and I'll tell you why.
First, it's not like I'm treading new ground here. This films been around since seven years before I was born. Next, this is not an American movie and usually doesnt get the respect it deserves although it is generally considered classic. Third sometimes we all know whats fresh comes with the best art (rockn roll for example) and I believe Polanski had something to let out.
I find this SO MUCH MORE POWERFUL than Fellinni or Bunuel at this point. The old classics like TOD BROWNING or the early german shit was good for sure but this was the first one that got me by the "GOTTCHA".
I'll not describe the film here. I don't need to you can find it anywhere. Public domain.
This is my favorite horror film. More later.
oh and there was a fine band that helped invent GRINDCORE that named their band after the movie...hmmm...wonder what thats about....

This legendary group from Chickasha, Oklahoma formed in 1975 and self-released their lone LP in 1976. A Dada/punk/psych masterpiece recorded in just under seven hours in Dec. 75, the LP and the individuals who created it have long been the subject of a great deal of mystery and conjecture due to their elusiveness, the mindblowing quality of the music as well as the provocative negative image bondage LP sleeve design. This expanded reissue includes all 11 original LP tracks in sparkling fidelity from the original master tapes along with 10 previously unissued rehearsal recordings (total time just over 76 minutes). Fully authorized by the band, this CD also features a 28 page booklet with rare photos, lyrics, and personal accounts by all three original members, including bassist Chuck Iveys tale of relocating to L.A. to participate in the nascent Dangerhouse punk scene, where he took the stage with the Randoms at the Masque benefit in Feb. 78. The Debris LP was also namechecked in Nurse With Wounds infamous listing of influential LPs included with their first album in 1979. In short, Debris cultivated its own dynamic musical vernacular, showing the influence of Captain Beefheart, the Stooges, early Roxy Music and other pre-punk mainstays of the time. They were quite good and rocking,everyone seemed to enjoy hear some classic H/C,but I was always more into the "Kyle Toucher" fronted version of Dr.Know,the METAL version!This LP is the pinnacle of Dr.Know's metal era,just great crossover H/C-Metal with that signature "Metal Blade" production. The first song is a DOA cover if you did'nt already know.There are some reworkings of some songs from the "Plug in Jesus"LP and the legendary "Burn" EP,just a little metalized but still punk as fuck. Dr. Know followed this LP with the totaly metal swansong "Wreckage In Flesh",I may post that if you fuckers want me to.

The had the look, the sound and the attitude - plus they were on SST - primus inter pares if you will. These 1983 demos happened before they signed to SST - you will find the songs from their first two albums here.

Maybe these crossover heralds were ahead of their time; mixing Black Sabbath with Black Flag looked good on paper and once you listened to the results, it made you write your mom home about. But the truth is, even in their prime (around 1986) the United Snakes of America didn't know what to make of them. Although Wino, they second and best vocalist, was a respected person among the DC scenesters who knew the cool shows to attend and the touring with Flag did not help them from playing in barns out in the woods for some retarded village idiots. ASSEMBLY OF GOD was together for less than one year but achieved alot in that time,releasing a 7inch EP on Havoc records and contributing 2 songs on the ultra rare 7inch compilation"Partnership For Survival",and completing a full US tour which included shows at ABC No Rio,CBGB'S,924 Gilman and more than a few horribly under-promoted shows. A.O.G. were not a "Christian punk band" as some were led to belive,they were in fact very much the oppisite. after their mostly successful tour,the band and Havoc records were sued over the name by the Assembly Of God church HQ (which was located in Oklahoma City,where the band practiced). shortly after the band dropped the name and disbanded,Chad(ex-Brother Inferior)who sang and played guitar in AOG formed THE LEVELING who were similar in sound and ideals to AOG,Mike continued giging with Subsanity and then Gestalt,Kevin,the drummer immersed himself into the shitty side of black metal culture and did several projects.
